in habbo, there was this item that wasn't just a furniture β€” it was basically a tradeable asset: the VIP sofa. VIPs were like the crypto of habbo, everyone was flipping them β€” buying low, selling high. they were super liquid too, because everyone wanted them, either to flex in their room or to trade for rarer stuff. very rare and expensive items were priced in VIPs. habbo also had coins you could trade, and deals were made by opening a trade window and putting your coins/items in there, along with the other party. i used to buy VIPs for like $12, but here's the scam: i'd put two $5 coins in the trade, then two $1 coins…and just before they confirm, i'd quickly remove one $5 coin. and boom β€” got the VIP for half the price. oh, and i ran a blackjack room (played with dice) where i was the intermediary. i mostly just did my job, since they paid me a small fee β€” until people started betting big. then i'd just kick them and delete the room. i was like 12 years old so please don't judge me, lmao.
