Mainstream media headlines love to say:

"Cannabis linked to higher risk of heart attack or stroke!"
But association ≠ causation  and here's why those claims don't hold up to deeper scrutiny:

🧪 1. Correlation ≠ Causation
Most of these studies are observational, not controlled trials. That means:

They can’t prove cannabis causes heart issues.

Users may also smoke tobacco, drink alcohol, have poor diets, or pre-existing conditions which confound results.

📌 Example: A large Canadian study found a slight increase in heart attack risk in young cannabis users but it didn’t separate those who smoked cannabis from those who used edibles or oils, or those who also smoked tobacco.
