I’m a japanese studies student and I’ve been using it almost daily. – I use it to summarize complex texts by uploading the readings I’ve already read and highlighted, and I ask ChatGPT to focus on what I marked. – I use it to structure essays and review my writing. – I also use it to explore thoughts I’ve been having and see how they might connect to the assignment. It’s a way to turn ongoing reflections into something I can actually integrate into my work.

Sounds like a good use. Are your peers using it to “do” their work for them to short cut to getting good grades without learning or comprehension?

I don’t know, tbh. But most students aren’t tech-savvy enough to use Chatgpt regularly. And since these are social studies, answering certain questions takes a decent amount of reflection, which I think, a not-too-lazy teacher could recognize through someone’s writing style if they’re cheating or not.
