Throwback to this day 6 years ago, riding horses on the Mongolian steppe One of our guides, in the red shirt, is one of the country’s top fly fishermen and he has competed in international competitions representing Mongolia. My first time fly fishing was with him! Mongolian horses are smaller than North American ones and are famous for their fast trot- they have incredible power and stamina. I’m going back this September but to a different area of the country.

Mongolians don’t name their horses but our group rode the same horses for 10 days so of course we (westerners) gave them all temporary names I called mine Gus. (Lonesome Dove is one of my all time favorite books)
