SportsTrax was a classic case of good idea/bad timing. Released just before the players strike of 94/95 and eventually discontinued by 98, it was one of the first instances of a wireless mobile device that allowed you to keep up on basic stats without needing to be glued to a TV or radio. Looking at it now, it's almost a proto tamagotchi. The $299 price point pretty much meant that unless you were either a diehard fan or obsessive gambler (or both) this device was never going to go beyond a niche audience.

Probably could do well today if it were integrated with gambling sites and real-time data feeds
