founders should pay themselves more than peanuts. extreme financial stress can seriously nerf one's true capability. after raising a round for my first startup, i paid myself $30K/year living in SF - stupid decision. hire less, pay yourself, and shoot with your talent & grit at 100% when you can afford it.
