my conclusion (so far) is that almost no one will care about (truly "sufficient", or whatever) decentralization until it's too late 

what to do? probably build the life boats before the Titanic starts to sink? 🤔

1) wait for the system to start collapsing due to its own flaws - making the need for decentralization more apparent

2) build something that cannot be built in a centralized system, to make the benefit more apparent
