Looks really interesting! My initial thought is that the heart rate variability would be a non-specific indicator of physiological stressors. I think the paper does discuss that it isn't necessary specific to COVID, but very useful in the pandemic context

Yup, exactly. It just warns you that you may be sick, then you can test accordingly. Was super useful in the pandemic context!
