Bought a TRMNL to act as a read-only SMS client for my 7yo, but it only refreshes every 15m, which is a bummer. 

Anyone know how to coerce faster refresh?

Anyone know of an alternative with more frequent refresh?

Anyone know how to jailbreak them?

Update on this

By running three identical apps and setting the device refresh to 5m, you can cut the 15m refresh down to 5, which is good enough for my use case

It’s a cheap hack. They let you run multiple apps on a playlist, and the device updates every 5 minutes to show a new app. 

So by timing the updates of each app correctly (each one every 15 minutes) you can get an update every five minutes. 

But they have to be three separate apps or else it just shows the same stale data every 5 minutes
