OK, OpenAI is building a social network, possibly “focused on ChatGPT’s image generation that has a social feed”. It seems like they’re making the current sora.chatgpt.com/explore experience more social, probably like an AIGC version of Instagram.

Ok, this is pretty much what I expected. The rumored OpenAI social network turns out to be the Sora app, which lets users easily create, share, and watch videos powered by AI. I once said it was "probably like an AIGC version of Instagram". Now it seems the focus is on video, so it’s closer to an AIGC version of TikTok.

look at how @tryemerge’s image-generation templates spread so quickly on Farcaster, that’s the kind of rapid network effect Sora might unleash once social features are built in. 

Adding social interactions on top of the current Sora could enable stronger viral dynamics, sharing clips that quickly spread across networks, people imitating and remixing each other’s creations, and new cultural memes emerging at unprecedented speed. I’d be happy to see all of this happen.
