NYC grows and change like a person. I’ve seen 3 major changes. Pre-911. Illegal Raves! Hip Hop! Small businesses. Shitty coffee in those blue Greek paper cups. Post-911. A giant mall. Insane wealth. “Raves” are actually just clubs you pay money to get into. You pretend you are edgy but it’s the safest place in the told. Brooklyn was cool actually. Businesses and famous chefs funded by private equity. Incredible coffee. It all sounds uncool but practicality is was the best time to live there. Post-Pandemic. This is just shaking out, so I don’t dare to comment yet. But a major revival. Old things gone. New things in. People too. Housing so expensive it doesn’t make sense, coffee too.

Even more than 9-11 I think NY over the last 50 years can be defined as pre and post Giuliani

Yea totally. I could decide if I should say Gulianni or 9/12 because it kind of happened at the same time but I think people’s minds shifted more because of 9/11 vs just the mallification that Gulianni started.
