music nfts didn't fail because i didn't want them. they failed because i had no way of using and showcasing them.

actually I feel that way about all NFTs. if someone buys an expensive painting, they'd have it very visible to themselves/others and make use of it, but NFTs are buried so deep in my wallet and layered in that even my FC OG NFT feels invisible and I forgot about it

I’ve written about this a bunch of times but it’s not like people open their wallet every day to marvel at their NFTs anyway. People keep saying “use” but they would never listen as is and if we gave them a download option, they don’t (from experience)

It works as long as the artist is actually onchain, and they can receive the signal I don’t think it works when there is an onchain music label, and their role is more of a technical one, ex: we will bring you onchain and give you 80% of sales There’s gotta be more to it…setup group chats, artist reply guying to their supporters casts, etc. Yeah, it’s a bit of a grind but it’s the only way I see the loop being closed

Eh music nfts failed because no one pushed boundaries. The value proposition of buying a Pokémon card or a piece of art is vastly different from buying music Artists should of leaned more into access/exclusivity and not o lol buy this mass produced single/album with zero actual benefit of being on chain

Would be great to have 1000+ mints/ month for the price of a Spotify sub. L2 would eat the margin though. For the biz model to work, would have to deploy w/ Bubblegum v2. Or prediction markets for bangers.

Same reason PFPs took off over other formats. Showcasing was inherent. Conspicuous consumption.
