Welcome

I received $125 in Farcaster leaderboard rewards this week (!) because people have been willing to take a chance on a newbie’s content. Now I’m paying that forward.

For the next 24 hours, I’m challenging myself to like 125 casts from different Farcasters I don’t follow, have <100 followers, and whose cast I genuinely find interesting. $1 via Noice per like.

I’ll start browsing in channels like /welcome and /100club. Please send any other channel, starter pack, or user recommendations my way. 🤍

I've looked at over 900 casts today and found only eight people who matched the criteria in my challenge. I'm going to extend the deadline for this because I have yet to comb through the leaderboard.

My happy hypothesis is that people earnestly sharing content do not stay at <100 followers for long. That said, it is difficult to naturally see content from newer users in the feed. The majority of the eight people I found came from /welcome, where an introduction made with effort can go a long way in helping people find community here.

Please keep your suggestions coming. They're very helpful. I'm reading them *all* as I do this, and will respond after my eyeballs recover.

hm i have activated my fc account beginning of june; still below 100 but that’s ok

i agree with @meatballs that banger posts are more important than the regular ones though replying and interacting with content seems equally important here 

also i was not actively posting on twitter or other social media which is why i could not move followers with me

starting from scratch is hard but the fc community has been super welcoming 🫶

yeah, I dumped my twitter account a long time ago and FB before that. Never been on insta and rarely post on LinkedIn. FC is me looking to see if social media actually has a place in my life at all!
