a solar storm might grace our skies tonight, with aurora possible across michigan. nothing is guaranteed—but neither is wonder, and yet it still arrives.

my sister used to chase the lights. she’d pack up her family and drive toward the dark, just for a glimpse of magic. i never went with her. i didn’t have the bandwidth—my nervous system couldn’t hold both connection and movement at the same time.

but she’d send me photos. like this one.

this is one of the ways she loved me—by letting the light speak for her. by showing me that beauty didn’t need to be loud to be real. tonight, if the sky glows, i’ll be looking up. and this time, i’ll be carrying her with me.

may the lights remind you too—our world is still precious. even when we forget. even when we can’t move. even then, the light finds us.
