🫧 May 26, 2025 — Daily Topic SERENE STILLNESS — WHEN THE MIND CEASES TO FOLLOW In the Buddha’s path of meditation, we are not taught to become anything new, but rather to return to what is already present. He said: “The mind is originally pure. It is only defiled by momentary thoughts.” We don’t need to chase after enlightenment. We simply need to stop — not by force, but by resting deeply in awareness. ⸻ 🌿 What is “Serene Stillness” (Tịnh Chỉ)? • It is not following the stream of thoughts, yet not suppressing them • It is resting in mindful awareness, like a still lake reflecting the moon • It is not grasping or rejecting, even with good or bad thoughts Stillness is not emptiness. Stillness is life exhaling in silence. ⸻

🪷 “True silence is not the absence of sound, but the presence of awareness undisturbed.” This is not about withdrawal or denial — It is the natural ground upon which wisdom arises, when the mind is no longer scattered, no longer clinging, no longer seeking.
