I’ve talked before about TCL’s NXTPAPER displays and devices. I think these devices have the most interesting screen technology currently available. - Flicker-free - Low blue light - Tri-mode (full color, e-paper color, e-paper b&w) - High refresh rates - Low power consumption - Low reflection - Paper-like texture And the new Note A1 tablet combines that technology with a Remarkable/Boox-like UI. I will definitely be watching this one closely. https://www.tcl.com/global/en/tcl-nxtpaper-technology https://notea1.tcl.com/

In 2000, Steve Jobs made a bold and unexpected move: he attempted to recruit Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux, to work at Apple. Jobs admired Torvalds’ technical brilliance and believed his talent could be transformative. However, the offer came with a major condition, Torvalds would have to stop developing Linux, the open source operating system that had already begun reshaping the tech world. Torvalds ultimately declined, choosing freedom and collaboration over corporate control. His decision allowed Linux to continue growing into the backbone of modern computing, powering servers, smartphones, and much of the internet itself. The moment is now remembered as a pivotal crossroads in tech history, one that highlights the philosophical divide between closed ecosystems and open source innovation.

The scale of difficulty in building an EUV (chip making machine) is almost impossible to imagine. China is throwing every possible resource at building this and it will be still likely be 2030 before it produces any working chips. EUVs are probably the most complex things humans have ever built. https://www.reuters.com/world/china/how-china-built-its-manhattan-project-rival-west-ai-chips-2025-12-17/

I swear through & through, LeaderKey is the simplest yet most effective app I’ve ever installed on my laptop. I use it so intuitively now it’s insane, and it only gets better the more I incorporate into it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQYakLsYSAQ

If there was a more compact (around 6”) version of the TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra, I’d probably be down to switch from my iPhone. Mostly though I just want them to start licensing out their NXTPAPER 4.0 screen tech to other manufacturers. Seriously watch some YouTube videos about this phone, this tech is incredible.

You ever hear a random notification sound from your laptop that you haven’t ever heard before, and don’t know which app or window to check, and nothing is flashing at you? Like… who is it? Who’s there?? 🤣

Alright how do we feel overall about AI & Generative AI in video? Do you think, if done welll, it is compelling? Or generally repulsed still? If it had a mixture of real human footage & creative direction, is it a yes?

The reason why prompt engineering can take so long, is because sometimes you don’t even recognize how many edge cases you have to adjust for until you really start prompting it & getting back its results.
