Also, how heptapods perceive time resonates with me a lot because it is one of the closest analogies to how I feel on a daily basis.
I’ve described the sensation as standing in a river where I can feel my past and future selves standing in the water simultaneously. The river is “time.” It’s a visceral feeling for me. I can feel my feet in the river right now.
The notions of anxiety or nostalgia don’t quite capture it, though I can feel those things too. It’s more like a persistent sense of coexistence with my self/selves across time. Each moment plays like a gigantic chord stretching across the piano, rather than one note. It sounds melancholic and grand and joyful all at once.
Anyway, it’s one of the reasons I’ve not felt called to psychedelics personally. How I’m wired and naturally experience life already feels pretty psychedelic.
