I just beside myself for why TypeScript decided to port to Golang but couldn’t muster the same energy to rewrite into Rust. Especially with Mythos right there and available. So many projects are rewritten in Rust. Probably going to be one of the biggest blunders in code language history 🤦‍♂️

We made a bet early in the winter to rewrite our backend into Axum and Rust. The bet is paying off now. No memory leaks, extremely fast cold start times, leverage native crypto libraries + Alloy, sqlx has compile-time checks, AI fixes its own mistakes, and it’s entirely in a binary — no dependencies!

slowly but surely moving my system towards rust (and wasm, once this is more available) So far I use: - coreutils - wezterm - gitui - du - exa probably a couple more I'm not aware of. Tried rio as terminal, but didn't quite like it.

Rust has an open issue since 2016 to cargo build with only dependencies so that Docker builds don't take 30 minutes every clip. In Deuteronomy the Israelites took 40 years to complete what should have been an 11-day journey to the Promised Land. I see parallels here. https://github.com/rust-lang/cargo/issues/2644

Finally conquered the last bits of the contract flow from Golang to Rust.. 1. Alloy macros are pretty great. Using Solidify contract interfaces directly in Alloy functions is also pretty great. Foundry fuzzing and property-based testing also great. 2. Geth contract middleware is still more ergonomic than Alloy, e.g. waitForTransaction doesn’t exist. 3. Rust Result typing is way better for flow state and DRY. 4. You should use Rust if you need transaction certainty. But it is totally overkill for smaller projects and hackathons.
