Finished reading Stewart Brand's “Maintenance of Everything” the most underrated idea in civilization. 3 takeaways that are sticking with me: 1. Maintenance isn't optional. Neglect quietly kills everything. 2. Monitoring, repair, replacement. It’s all one continuous act of keeping things alive. 3. Taking responsibility for maintaining something is a radical act. Civilization isn't built. It's maintained.

Really enjoyed the book Hit Makers by Derek Thompson. A must read for anyone who creates anything. Three insights that stuck with me: • Hits aren’t accidents, they’re familiar enough to comfort, novel enough to intrigue. The sweet spot has a name: MAYA. (Most Advanced Yet Acceptable) • Virality is mostly a myth. Most blockbusters run on institutional machinery, not organic spread. • We don’t love novelty. We love the feeling of novelty, wrapped in something we already know. If you make content, build products, or study culture, this book is the cheat code.

I love to go to a Cafe and read on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Still recovering from a cold, I might try to run a little bit later if it feels right. From the book, a nice message for today: “creativity encourages connection” On Connection by Kae Tempest

I’m reading now the autobiography of the ultra runner Scott Jurek. It is a very well written book telling the story of how he became an athlete. I’m still in the beginning but I would recommend for everyone who likes interesting and adventurous life paths. At the end of each chapter there is a recipe of a food that supports running and healthy living. “Sometimes you just do things”

Finished “When we cease to understand the world” by Benjamin Labatut. Illustrates scientific breakthroughs are born from obsession and the thin line between genius and instability. Progress reshapes the world while warping the minds of those who chase it. It captures that tension with a blend of fact and fiction that lingers. https://a.co/d/8uSk1tU

Wow, San Francisco’s flagship hotels changing hands at 26 percent of their 2016 value signals a deeper reset. Pricing is finally clearing. A move of broader repricing across urban real estate and a coming wave of distressed-to-value conversions. The marks are going to start hitting the market whether they like it or not. https://www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/downtown-hotels-sold-parc-55-hilton-21201573.php?utm_source=chatgpt.com

The central library became one of my favorite spots in Helsinki. It’s a multifunctional space with places to meet, to work, to play video games. They also have 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, and a whole floor — the top one, and the most beautiful — dedicated to reading. I just sat in a comfy armchair by the window to read and enjoy the view. The architecture is gorgeous, and the top floor resembles a cloud — very fitting to the city’s atmosphere. The entrance is free, and you don’t even have to register. Very accessible, and open until the evening.

Since I started training to run more often and longer, I’ve become quite interested in breathing and how to improve it overall. As a child, I used to cough a lot, and it was something that came back every time I caught a cold. Increasing my running and overall fitness has helped me — by this time last year, I had already had two cases of bronchitis, while this year I haven’t had any and have been less prone to colds. Moving forward, improving my lung capacity feels essential both for running and for my overall health. Last month, I read an interesting book about sports and breathing, and now I’m reading the one in the picture. It’s not about sports but about how crucial breathing is to life — not just the automatic act of it, but how we can improve our general health and longevity through nasal breathing. James Nestor, a journalist, did extensive research on the topic, including free diving, to write this book. I’ve read about a third of it so far, and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to breathe and live better.

Finished The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi. Learnings: true strategy is the pursuit of clarity, timing, and adaptability in all things. And rhythm as the unseen pulse of conflict, those who sense and disrupt rhythm control the encounter.
