Laszlo Polgar was a Hungarian pedagogue who raised his 3 daughters to become chess grandmasters. His philosophy is rooted in the belief that any child has the potential to become a genius if the conditions are favorable and intensive study begins as early as possible. I was able to get my eyes on an english translated pdf of his book ‘How to Raise a Genius’ which I made the centerpiece of my learning protocol.
One of the reasons that I was so inspired by Polgar’s work was that each of his 3 daughters not only went on to become distinguished in a time when female chess players weren’t very prevalent, but all 3 of them went on to live “normal” family lives that placed high importance on morals and values.
The way we play games is indicative of the patterns we express in our lives. Meaning that we can’t look at behavior in isolation, we must recursively refine our method of play that is most conducive to measurable progress while intentionally developing the personality.
