First class on applied people analytics done this year. I love that we are two instructors. It’s wonderful to see someone doing an amazing job. Class is small, only 12 students. But 5 to 6 active students not scared to share their experience. Next week will be deep dive into basic descriptive statistics. Students least favourite subject.

While reading the Score by C Thi Nguyen I realised two things - since undergrad I’m alternating between heavy quant focus to heavy human focus. - What is really exciting about social networks/graphs is that they look super technical, but simultaneously they are a story and you need words and context to make sense of them. Given that I alternate between technical (numbers) and stories (people) it makes sense that I love working and analysing social networks. Only took me 20 years to figure this out

Eat cake. Whenever and however the fuck you want. Especially if your mom made it (aka me) and you are sharing it with your kids in the kitchen all digging into it

“…and he’s dominicano” kid#2 explained excited about her new love prospect. Me, flabbergasted at why nationality matters, stare at her. “That means he’s hot af” she explains and then skips away happily

Today I had oats with mascarpone. Because I slept like shit and didn’t turn on the kitchen light. Not that bad, but now I need to buy mascarpone for the cake.

Why did you answer with an ai apple eating a slice of apple? What are you trying to tell me? Kid#3: it’s just a sticker… Abbreviated conversation of me trying to stay in the loop with the young folks

Intuition app update: - casts are now annotated with extra information. The goal is to derive better statements/claims - for the app I think it needs to run on Base and not Intuition (L3). Not sure what problems this creates for discoverability of claims - still unsure about the lore. It could be a form of check-in app for people to claim “I was there” or grassroots journalism. They address different aspirational goals and unsure which one to prioritise. - jargon: I don’t want to use terms like atom, triplets, attestation, DID, subject, object, predicate.

Kids prefer to move to Belgium instead of Finland or Germany 😞 at least it’s near Paris. Now I only need to find a job. They would have to either re-learn Flemish, which they spoke fluent in 2018, or French. Let’s see what the universe has in store for us.

Screens for stand with app. Every time you go outside and touch grass, you witness local events. New coffee shop opening, pop up clothes sales, happy hour place. These things get garbaged on google maps or buried on Instagram. Stand with lets you collect them, supporting your local community. I've started with casts as the source of truth. There are many of them, which makes it easier to experiment with a flow. The hard part is to abstract away all the complications of intuitions. You can't upload a human-sounding statement, but only weird subject-verb-object fragments. When confirming the transaction, several things happens: - An onchain identity is created for each element of the fragment (unless it already exists). If the element is a named entity (e.g., Euro, Spain, Ukraine) it is connected to it's label (e.g, Ukraine isA country) - A statement is created phrased as subject - verb - object - A vault is created for each statement (with a pre-defined bonding curve) - The user is staking $ in each vault (for each identity + the statement)

That’s the stupid home button. Getting the battery out was trickier this time. Heating the battery with a hair dryer so that the adhesive strips loosen is weird. Didn’t do it enough so strips broke. Had to apply more heat to get it out. Yes there was a weird smell after some time. And the battery now has a bubble… Will finish assembly after dinner

Fixing this screen. Again. 3rd time. Told the kid this is the last time. She drops it again, she fixes it. First time doing it, it went flawless. Too smooth. Second time I fucked up the home button. There’s a tiny tear in it. This time I’ll also change the battery. Home button will remain broken.
