Not a huge guitar player (wish I were), but I do appreciate Japanese craftsmanship.
I stooped this Vintage Alvarez Guitar today for free in Brooklyn.
Anyone able to share any additional context about it? The way it was stamped and ID'd is abnormal to everything Ive found on google.
Its in pretty solid shape - Seems to be from the 70s/80s

Broke a string at rehearsal last night because of course I did.

The cold weather put my tuning out of whack and didn’t have an Allen handy.

Adopted one of my dad's guitars which means I got a big upgrade to the temporary guitar I have been using these last years.
Japan wouldn't strike one as a guitar country but their luthiers sure are pretty awesome.

I really enjoyed this Biato interview with Neal Schon. This guy has lived an incrediby musically rich life, collaborating with the best of the best performers from blues, jazz, and (pop) rock. Shares many insights into production, performance, composing, and a lot more. Legend.

Gary Moore definitely in my list of top 5 guitarists, though I never got to see him perform live 😥 . His playing is the definition of _intensity_.

approaching 4am here in miami. movers quite literally arrive in a few hours. felt a pang of gratitude and some melancholy being surrounded by boxes and decided to record an emo classical guitar rendition of fly me to the moon, dedicated to our best friends who live here.
the plan is to splice together video snippets of our friendship throughout the years (nearly 12!), layer it over the audio and present it to them. hoping to capture something in the vein of the movie ≪Her≫. yes it will lead to lots of tears but that's what friends are for.
