if youโre coming to /farcon-rome, youโll likely pass by one of the weirdest landmarks in the city
right between testaccio and ostiense sits the Piramide Cestia (yes, an actual egyptian-style pyramidโฆ in rome)
built around 12 BC as a tomb for a roman magistrate (gaius cestius), during a time when egyptian culture was trending hard in the empire,
itโs one of those moments where rome casually bends reality and keeps going
right next to it youโll find porta san paolo, old city walls, and the entrance to two of the most alive neighborhoods in the city:
โ Testaccio: raw, local, food-driven, very roman
โ Ostiense: post-industrial, creative, full of energy (and where our venue, industrie fluviali, is ๐)
this area is less โpostcard romeโ and more โreal romeโ
street art, markets, late dinners, random bars that turn into 3am conversations
so yeah, youโll come for farcon
but youโll end up spending time around a 2000-year-old pyramid surrounded by some of the best vibes in the city
rome does that to you
