update on eggs.fun: my farcaster hubs are still missing blocks, now at 190,000+ missed blocks
that's why tips don't work, most likely that's why staking rewards won't work, jackpots won't work, most likely why a lot of things don't work, including @pigeontrade in the feed (please use pigeon in dms, that still works, because it isn't going through the hubs)
@rish suggested me to switch the whole infrastructure (it's like half a dozen of places with very fragile and badly documented official node js farcaster hub npm package over a few different services), that will also require me to switch how the code is written (currently we use direct ip addresses of hubs, neynar will require using https urls, which is, for some reason, different interface in the official package)
to his defence, @rish did offer to cover any costs for any api calls going to the neynar nodes, yet we all know how it goes: at some point one of us will forget that this happened and we will get a surprise bill from neynar, and even if everything goes smoothly, guess what, i have to do the same migration thingy over the whole base in reverse to the hubs that are owned and operated by me
i will not accept that farcaster should centralize around neynar-provided hubs, and i do want my nodes to start working again
over the last 6 months i repeatedly suggested first the farcaster snapchain team, now neynar that i can simply add one of their engineer's public ssh key to my vps so that they can debug
frankly, i run STOCK snapchain setup, down to the letter of how snapchain is suggested to be setup in the official docs (https://snapchain.farcaster.xyz/guides/running-a-node) so whatever issues i have, are probably causing all other stock snapchain setups to fail; and debugging my two nodes will help with removing issues plaguing all other stock nodes
yet, for one reason or another it never happens
untill https://hub.merv.fun/v1/info finally shows block delay to be 0, both eggs and pigeon will have degraded performance
this has been a battle for me for close to half a year now, and i no longer want to have anything to do with any of this; i do not know how a protocol can survive when the basic parts of it (snapchain) fail and no one seems to be interested enough to fix whatever's wrong, even given full access to diagnostics
i'm done with this back and forth, this is completely unsustainable
