Came across @chao's reading notes on "Why Managers Matter" and figured the DAO folks here would find it interesting. The book dives deep into the contradictions of "leaderless" organizations, and crypto/DAOs are basically the most radical social experiment we're running on this concept right now. What caught my eye: the author talks about "second-class authority" mechanisms vs how DAOs actually try to operate. One approach tries to replace traditional management with smart contracts and code governance, the other... we're still figuring that out. The reality check? Both traditional orgs and DAOs struggle with the same scaling challenges. Maybe the future isn't about choosing sides but understanding what actually works.
