📣 I am no longer Lead Steward of @unlock-protocol DAO! While I have been recovering a bit from the workload of the last year as Lead Steward, I also took some time to reflect on what I succeeded in and key info I have learned while being in that role about DAOs. First of all, I am excited to share that I checked all the marks on my original proposal. In a DAO, roles are often proposed, and upon that proposal, one is either elected or denied that role. This is the proposal that I published over a year ago: https://snapshot.box/#/s:unlock-protocol.eth/proposal/0xfa2740a0b2431935b697907f900a6c1d1a2f4cca00982b13de94795bffae9fc8 The milestones I am most proud of: ✔️ Supporting our migration to @base.base.eth for lower-cost and broader governance participation ✔️ Upgrading contributor systems for efficiency and fairness with @charmverse ✔️ Initiating a Steward Council to decentralize leadership 💜 ✔️ Launching and actively supporting key cultural and organizational frameworks ✔️ Foster stronger ecosystem connections resulting in active integrations of our technology into others in the works (e.g., @hatsprotocol). What I have learned about /daos: ❌ Just because you "know" something to be right, doesn't mean everyone will agree with you. Processes are slow but can be optimized with patience. ❌ Centralized leadership icons in a DAO are problematic and often tip the balance of governance unfavorably. ❌ Revenue and self-sustainability are key to any organization that is thinking long-term, but it can't be based on short-term thinking. This role was always meant to be limited to a year, so the DAO can move on to a more decentralized and liveable model of a Steward Council (my workload was insane at times 😅)! Nonetheless, I am super grateful for the experience and looking for more opportunities in a similar direction. Ping me if you know an organization looking for someone like me 🥰 .

Weekly DAO Calls are essential to provide a consistent space for open discussions and feedback. We started with this model a bit over a year ago, and it has been serving us very well. Just fresh out of the press, our now monthly DAO Calls newsletter. We realized that with moving from Lead Steward to Steward Council, an adaptation in our calls should happen as well. Therefore: 💫 1 monthly DAO Call to summarize what has occurred within the last month. Goal: awareness and transparency. 💫 3 monthly discussion calls on particular and pre-announced topics.
