Day 8: Vendor lock-in is very real and I’m starting to feel allergic to it. Layers on layers of abstraction for what are basically simple operations. Vercel, Neon, Neynar, Redis, Upscale… no thanks. We are going back to basics as best we can: cut operational costs, simplify maintenance, optimize later. Infra tools have blown out of proportion and in my cynical opinion they stay vague about pricing until you have no choice but to upgrade, and by then you get handed a hefty bill.
