book clubs are making a come back! No chatGPT summaries, no outsourcing of thought. You turn the pages. You read between the lines. You make your own mind up. And have fun on the way. Even if you are learning about an Empire of AI.

Ladies and gentlemen, Disruptors and Curious Minds™, Tech Book Club (LIVE!) is Back. And there are no AI summaries, no shortcuts, no outsourcing of thought. It's all about you, the grey matter between your ears and thinking for yourself. Reading Books shouldn't be revolutionary, yet it increasingly is. So consider yourself a revolutionary. The book is Empire of AI by Karen Hao. The Premise: An eye-opening account of the most fateful tech arms race in history, told by an AI insider with intimate access to the world of Sam Altman and Open AI. The Book Club is on Friday, 22nd August, at 15.00 CET / 09.00 ET Bring a book. Bring an open mind. Bring your questions. Bring a curious friend. PS: Karen Hao will not be present and in no way endorses this book club. RSVP here: https://www.youtube.com/live/1vEn1ciPbCQ?si=PDdbESv6YtTxDmKU

Touching books this weekend The last time I did such a book cleanse must have been roughly fours years ago… got rid of approx. 20% Now I won’t feel guilty when purchasing sth new 🤸🏻‍♀️📚🙌🏼 though I must admit that I use my e reader a lot these days; especially when it comes to known novels… What was your latest read?! Any recommendations now that I have space again?!

😌🏵️ #2 The Internet Book Club TOKYO meetup yesterday — always happy when it’s book chat time :) This round: Hello World by Hannah Fry — AI in everyday life: ⚖️ justice, 🚗 cars, 🎨 art, and more. For those who haven’t read it: the self-driving car chapter is especially fascinating: how cars “see” the world, who decides what’s an acceptable risk, whose lives are prioritized, and how much control we’re ready to hand over to algorithms 🤖. The next meetup will be announced soon! #BookClub #AIReads #HelloWorld 📚 @senspace @denjin @renstern.eth @granite...

CRAZY IDEA: Would anyone be interested in a audiobook club with a twist? 🔀 Listen to me read to you. Here’s how it would work: 1. Vote on a book. 🗳️ 2. I read a chapter (or few) per day and send it to the group in a voice note or audio clip. 3. We can chat about it virtually. 💬 4. Once a month the group can have a live call to shittalk/discuss the book. 💻 How to join? Sign up and pay a small subscription fee (~$4-5/month). This would cover the cost of me buying the book and plenty of tea and honey to soothe my vocal cords. I’d add you to a telegram chat or similar after signing up. 📲 Why join? I’ve been told I have a very nice soothing voice. (I’m even one of those people that doesn’t hate the sound of my own voice!) You wouldn’t need to pay for your own official audiobooks or physical copy (unless you want to) and you’d get to hear me personally read a book to you. Who would be interested in something like this?

Where are you on the AI Doom-Utopia Spectrum? Nexus! It's been a wild ride. Tiring, emotionally draining and pretty darn depressing at times.. but important. Who knew book clubs could be so much fun beyond the page?
