Base turned into the chain for delayed payouts, and I'm not sure anyone planned it that way. I've been watching apps where you do something now and the reward shows up weeks later. Not vesting — that's investor mechanics. This is a product choice. You contribute, you wait, value appears when it's ready. It filters people. Farmers leave. Tourists bounce. What's left are users who actually care. Base doesn't force you to finalize fast. State can just sit there. So apps started designing around patience instead of instant dopamine. There's one app I tried where you back a project and tokens unlock based on milestones, not dates. Felt weird at first. Then felt correct. Delayed rewards started feeling premium in 2026. Instant payouts feel like slot machines. Delayed feels like building something. I don't know if this becomes a category or just fades. But right now Base has apps that make you wait, and the waiting is the point.
