I Took a Photo!

Dagmara Wojtanowicz, a research technician, captured the image above showing two scientists in Svalbard, Norway, extracting drilled ice cores. These cores are collected to study microbial life in polar ice.

The final winning photo was taken by Jiayi Wang, a PhD student at the China University of Geosciences. In this image, geologist Haocheng Yu is seen surveying a mineral-rich area at night. These regions contain not only gold but also significant amounts of copper and tungsten. Wang emphasizes that geologists must possess survival skills in nature alongside their laboratory knowledge.
