Yes, west but moved to Japan after HS. Humans can't sit still by nature. Stagnation is so much worse than growth. Ambition besets growth. The direction of ambition is important. Enlightenment, peace, civilization, salvation.

(I think learning to "sit still" is a superpower, but it's hard af and I don't expect it from humanity at scale)
