after 2 years of hard work, blobs are now live on @base

after: $0.00 (but actually $0.0005)

wallets need to update to handle these cost reductions!

1/ i'm so proud of us reducing @base fees 100x+ — but i've also seen how much hard work it's taken to get here. 

i want to share my perspective, with the hope that it shows how thinking long term, working hard, and doing things *together* can do massive good in the world.

@jessepollak does danksharding have anything to do with blobs?

Congrats on the epic accomplishment btw!!! That's an insane reduction.

One nice thing about EIP-4844 is how future-proof it is:

1. The only consensus change required to get us from where we are today to full 16 MB danksharding is a parameter change.
2. The point eval precompile returns the modulus, allowing rollups to be built to be forward-compatible with future changes to the modulus

yeah, blobs == the new data availability structure that danksharding will scale. eip4844 is "protodanksharding" which is the first phase of danksharding.
