at this point i'm not a big fan of token gated experiences

distribution is too hard to build to put additional friction in the process of getting ppl to consumer your content

there are ppl using it well but idk why, i'm not too excited about the possibilities there. i may be wrong?

token-gated experiences work when the "end product" you're gating is actually aspirational e.g. does it make me cooler? does it make me stand out? does it make me feel special? 

non-crypto example:
to even be considered for a birkin, you need to have already bought other hermes items first.

taking music albums for example, if it means i get to listen to them first before 99% of the population AND have a way to signify this early status - then it may fullfill the aspirational aspect.

that's an interesting angle. it works for things that are known to be very high quality/value/status products but it does a poorer job anywhere 'discovery' or the simultaneous consumption of a product by a large group is an important part of the end product - e.g. a music album?
