9 years ago, 19yo me moved to paris on a working holiday visa, hoping i'd somehow get to stay forever.
7 years ago, 21yo me moved to berlin on the same kind of visa, hoping for the same thing.
i always thought it was so unfair that where you're born decides where you're allowed to live.
the only visas within my reach were once in a lifetime, while i was under 30, and just for a year.
and don't get me wrong, i love argentina.
but not being able to just say "ok, i'm moving to this city and staying as long as i want" was killing me inside.
a few years ago we found out, out of nowhere, that one of my great-grandfathers was polish. and that kicked off a whole chain of events that let me apply for citizenship last year.
today it came through, and i'm officially a polish citizen!
europe always felt like home to me, but i never felt like i truly belonged...until now 🥲🖤
