Watched Rick Rubin a16z interview this morning and I’m reading Building SimCity now.

Ben and Marc tell Rick that in the early years they tried to tell founders what to build and if the founder agreed and departed from their unique vision, or gave answers aiming to please the VCs, that they should not invest because the project would fail. 

The world needs to let geniuses like Will Wright cook. He was 29 when SimCity was released. Variously stifled by business people. The Sims took ten years and came out in 2000. Imagine if he had been empowered to deliver his full vision of Spore. 

He’s only 65 now. What an incredible creator. I would love to meet him.
