In 1920, France occupied Morocco and was participating in the war against Vietnam. It recruited some moroccans to assist the french army against the Vietnamese. However, moroccans considered this unjust and sided with the vietnamese against France. Moroccans married Vietnamese and had children. In 1972, the King of Morocco offered to help those wishing to return to Morocco. Approximately 85 families returned and are now residing in the Vietnamese village in Morocco, where they built this Vietnam Gate:
