Buying a new MacBook this week. Def doing M4. Was thinking 32 gb ram, 512 ssd should be more than enough Does anyone have strong opinions on the air vs pro? My current one is a pro I bought 6 years ago. Seems like there’s a “lightweight / aesthetic” argument to the air which might be worth thinking about

I just got the new m4 air with these specs: Honestly better value compared to the base Mac Pro. I do a lot of photoshop (product editing) and video editing (tiktoks) and it works speedy with an external monitor. Sure the screen isn’t as good and there aren’t as many ports but I’m not paying an extra $800 to replace some $20 dongle lol

if you use more than 1 external monitor - go pro

Pro good but I cannot imagine how 512gb ssd is good. Minimum 1tb or more. You’ll not regret having more storage. Local llm’s you might want more than 32gb ram

I would just go for the Pro, who knows what you'll want to do on it (local models, etc), better more powerful than less, and the extra weight is still very manageable

Go Pro and max out your RAM and SSD. I wasn't sure why I was doing it at first, but a reason always appears. This time it's experimenting with local LLMs.

Get the m4 pro 512/24 one, best price to performance ratio. You can use external storage later if needed. Got mine few weeks ago 😁

When you are ripping at fill capacity on your MacBook what’s that look like? How many programs do you usually have going at once? Also do you plug it into a dock with multi monitors
