Did you know that in the 19th century, ketchup was sold as a medicine? That's right! In 1834, Dr. John Cook Bennett added tomatoes to ketchup, which was originally a fish or mushroom-based sauce, and marketed it as a cure for indigestion and other ailments. It was even sold in pill form! While it didn't last long as a medical treatment, this tomato-based concoction eventually evolved into the popular condiment we know today. 🍅✨ Who knew ketchup had such a quirky past?
