President Trump Establishes U.S. Strategic Cryptocurrency Reserves

On March 7, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to create two national cryptocurrency reserves: a "Strategic Bitcoin Reserve" and a "National Digital Asset Stockpile." These reserves will be funded using cryptocurrencies seized in criminal or civil asset forfeitures, aiming to bolster the U.S.'s position in the digital asset landscape without utilizing taxpayer funds. Currently, the U.S. government holds approximately 200,000 bitcoins, valued at around $17 billion.
