musings on web3, from Babe issue 23: The magic, and tbh wider adoption, seems to happen when blockchain tech disappears into the background and you're just using a better version of something you already understand. Which, it turns out, has a bit to do with skeuomorphism. A term I recently learned about. Which basically says we’re all basic bitches who flock to the comfort of familiarity.

That’s a head trip but makes sense when your creating a artificial reality I can’t remember the movie but it was somthing like if the dream feels to real you will wake up the beauty is in the or comfort in the obliteration of comprehension of design ie grains of wood shaped by sand and ash.

it is a head trip. but I think perhaps the need for familiarity and comfort is tethered to our basic animal need for safety. to feel safe. so it does make sense, even though I’m making fun of it/us. and/but there is indeed a kind of beauty in and perhaps inherent necessity for the obliteration of comprehension (of design)—maybe that’s our entropic existence at play. 🤷‍♀️
