Day 2 (I forgot🫣) Octopuses have three hearts. Did you know an octopus has three hearts? Two of them work constantly to pump blood to its gills, while the third takes a break every time it swimsβ€”only pumping blood to the rest of its body when it’s at rest. Their blood isn’t red like ours, but blue. That’s because they use copper-based hemocyanin instead of iron-based hemoglobin to carry oxygen, a perfect adaptation for cold, low-oxygen ocean depths. It’s a reminder that life evolves in wonderfully alien ways to fit its world. @newtp
