🧟 Resident Evil – the game I didn’t choose, but it chose me

Back then, I was just a kid, getting my first PC. I didn’t know much about games. I just wanted a computer for studying.

But the shop owner had pre-installed some games. Among them was Resident Evil.

I opened it out of curiosity. The game icon looked strange, the name sounded scary. The screen went dark, eerie music played, and… a gloomy world unfolded.

Resident Evil was the first game to introduce me to survival horror. Bullets were scarce, zombies were looming, every door I opened made my heart race. But strangely, I wanted to come back.

I wasn’t very good at English, so I only grasped the story through images and sounds. Yet it haunted me — every room, every footstep, every eerie soundtrack.

Now that I’m older, I can play Resident Evil 4, 7, 8… But I still remember the very first one — not because it’s the best, but because it was my first fear in the gaming world.

A beautiful fear. A memory that never fades.
