Ok interesting I didn’t have that history angle in mind when I read detailed oriented but you are right, you learn a lot from reading about the past, especially for patterns. 

I work in finance so I can confirm that’s true, history doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes.

Obsession definitely lies in the details you go after. I have been going deep in usually everything I am passionate about, be it cars, tech, movies/shows, coding and more recently building products using AI like i have done with @tipdotmd. 

With it I ended up taking typescript and leaning into the details of it, coming from a pure Python background. Fascinating.

love seeing people studying the history of their craft, and the more they do, the better their pattern recognition muscle becomes.

personal example: going deep into the history of social networks for challenges & the history of social commitments - both off and onchain - studying what worked and what didn’t, and what we can learn for /commit as we iterate the next version of the product.

obsession lies in details such as scraping the internet, advanced usage of internet archive, geo-local forums/websites/search engines, going back all the way to early 2000s, etc
