There isn't much discussion on it on the US side but if you look at it from Canadian perspective, the United States has just declared economic war on Canada with the aim of taking all it's territory. No exaggeration, that's literally what's happening. And they're (rightfully) so pissed. It's the main discussion over there these days.

They have never calculated "Economic war from the US" in their threat model. It is an existential crisis for them. Most people in the US meanwhile don't even know what's happening.

The main problem for Canada is it’s addiction to foreign trade with US. Been a very old debate to find new opportunities worldwide but entrepreneurs are too often cautious and chilly to explore

canada is 10% the population of the U.S. and has a significant trade deficit, not a surplus. “protests” like not buying U.S. products or cancelling travel are purely performative, we don’t have the power in this relationship.

Waiting to see if this will be a permanent policy or one of those that the Prez backs out of. All for our freshwater is it?
