Iran is heading into internal conflict? Power struggles inside Iran are getting more visible, and a hardline figure could soon take control of nuclear negotiations. Saeed Jalili is now being considered to replace Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who stepped back from the role after internal disputes. Jalili represents the ultra conservative Paydari faction, known for rejecting cooperation with the West. He previously led nuclear talks from 2007 to 2013 under Ahmadinejad, pushing a strategy focused on resistance rather than compromise. Over the years, he also built an informal influence network, often described as a shadow cabinet, to counter more moderate policies. The situation became more tense after Donald Trump canceled plans to send a delegation to Pakistan for talks. At the same time, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is still trying to stay at the center of negotiations. This highlights how multiple power centers are competing to shape Iran’s foreign policy.
