Last week I had a meeting with a researcher who previously worked at Google's "moonshots" division, specifically in applying quantum computers. His observations: Core Devs are skeptical of quantum, but not deep enough in the field of quantum computers to properly assess the risks. BTC's current path to post-quantum will be slow unless this changes.

But isn’t it only 2124 qubits needed to crack BTC’s ECDSA signatures using optimisations on Shors algorithm? From our conversation he said a small team, say $10M in funding, could also use older gen quantum computers and target BTC with algorithm optimisations which could beat cutting edge quantum computers.
