a theory i keep circling back to: people who post prolifically tend to have very rich inner monologues. they’re already narrating their lives internally. posting is just externalising that to cognitively offload.

That makes sense - and why trying to maintain virality is natural to some and stressful to others. The former are cognitively offloading as you say, in service to themselves. The latter work overtime in service to the content.
