thought i sat with for a while: society is declining because we lost god realisation: we lost structure, and religion provides structure at scale without it: – most never replace the structure – drift in a void of infinite options and no direction – no rituals, no anchor, no eye above – end up worshipping lesser gods (consumerism, identity cults, politics) religion is a proxy for long-term thinking, a scaffold that makes: – sacrifice mean something – morality feel seen, even when no one is watching – chaos survivable religion is mass orchestration and most are just noise without a conductor

isn't that the same tho, we lost structure because we stopped asking the question about a higher power. left open to imaginary interpretations that are damaging to the psyche, or worse other organised beliefs that don't have our best interests at heart imo it's quite bullish that gen z have this interest, I'm doubtful it will result in zealous belief and will only bolster community it's like humanity is having a software update I think this shows in how unserious gen alpha is but not in the same nihilistic tone that millennials have

this is the essence of the critique of postmodernism, and i don't disagree. not sure about where causation lies tho. i think it's probably natural in the evolution of a species
