caught the recap later. jesse said “base is a bridge, not an island” and they actually shipped a base <=> solana bridge on testnet
why i care as a user first
// i can drop sol into base apps
// i can pull base usdc to solana
// both directions in ~15 min, erc20 <=> spl happens under the hood
// code is open under mit, mainnet in weeks
why it matters bigger than one app
// base brings coinbase rails and evm liquidity
// solana brings speed and that retail energy
