Go to Los Gatos or Palo Alto (CA Ave, Uni Ave) then. 

California Avenue is great if you wanna avoid University Ave.

San Jose is great for casual spots (La Vic’s - try the orange hot sauce), but a desert when it comes to upscale. 

One exception just for the vibe:

The GrandView. Food is solid tho not “wow!” but the view of South Bay is incredible.
