Asides from smoking , polycythemia can occur as a result from excessive alcohol intake Alcohol is a forced diuretic , thereby leading to excessive removal of water from the body through urination , leading to reduced plasma concentration (liquid part of the blood ) in the body , hence increasing RBC concentration… This dehydration can also occur in diarrhea and vomits .
